OCTOBER IS A SPECIAL MONTH FOR THE MOORESBURG COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION

Monday October 20
10:30am Bingo, Lunch at 11:30. Spice mixes and soup mixes at 12 noon

Tuesday October 21
Feeding America Mobile Food Pantry Truck at 11:00am

OUR NEW LOCATION is the Open Arms Mission Parking lot next to the Calvary Baptist Church. Our volunteers will be on hand to direct you and get you checked in.

Wednesday October 22
Bonnie is making her secret version of Olive Garden Chicken and Gnocchi Soup with Red Lobster Cheddar biscuits to go with it.

Thursday October 23
Field Trip to Beautiful Cades Cove Park.
Please check with the center for departure information.

Monday October 27
Bingo at 10:30am Lunch at 11:30am  Caramel Corn and Treat Jars at 12noon
We also have Amedysis Nurses coming from Rogersville to do blood pressure checks.

CUPCAKES AND HOT CHOCOLATE

  Halloween at Mooresburg Community Center

The MCA will be featured on East Tennessee’s Public Broadcasting Station as their “Be More’ Award Winner. From October 15- November 15, look for a recurring spot about our agency, our work in the community and the positive effect we have on our neighbors in Mooresburg. We are very proud to be honored by this recognition, and we are happy to be a positive representation of the community we all call home.

 

ENERGY ASSISTANCE APPLICATIONS

Applications will be available on October 1st. The application must be filled out entirely, accompanied by proof of income, and this means a copy of the award letter from Social Security if you receive your income from SS, a bank statement will not be accepted. A copy of all household members’ social security card and a copy of your highest energy bill from the last 12 months.

The application will be mailed, but they are going to the LIHEAP office in Kingsport, not Rogersville, as in the past. If you want an application, please come to the community center.

Applications available Wednesday October 1st. Stop by the Community Center for yours.

 

KIDS BACKPACK PROGRAM

The Mooresburg Community Association is continuing the  kids backpack program. We provide a backpack with snacks and drinks to be enjoyed during the week, and then the pack can be exchanged at the school. The  backpacks will be exchanged at Mooresburg Elementary School on Fridays.

This program is available to children eligible for free or reduced school lunches.

 

FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS THRIFT STORE

Remember the Friends and Neighbors Thrift Store next to the Mooresburg Post Office. Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Pat is always having a $1.00/bag sales.

 

MOBILE FOOD PANTRY

The next Feeding America Mobile Food Pantry will be setting up on Tuesday October 21 at 11:00 a.m. The food pantry truck usually has a variety of veggies, dairy, bread, canned goods, beverages and other items in abundance at the Second Harvest Food Bank. THE FOOD TRUCK WILL BE LOCATING AT THE OPEN ARMS MISSION PARKING LOT, NEXT TO THE CALVARY BAPTIST CHURCH. WE WILL NOT HAVE ACCESS TO REST ROOMS OR BEVERAGES


PLEASE NOTE:
USDA foods are to be distributed; each household MUST have a representative with an ID and must sign check in form. We can no longer allow boxes to be picked by others. Be sure to arrive by 11:00 am to ensure that supplies will still be available. For more information, call 423-923-1488.

 

Who We Are

The Mooresburg Community Association is made up of a partnership of dedicated staff, area churches and private community representatives to form a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose goal is to provide services for residents who wish to maintain their independent lifestyle in Mooresburg, Tennessee.

What We Do

We provide services for our neighbors so that they may continue to live independently in their home. Services include “Meals in the Hills” home delivered meals program, in house dining, recreational activities, and transportation to medical appointments.
