Mooresburg Community Association is putting Wal Mart grant funding to use, with 2 new programs

The Mooresburg Community Association has announced the opening of a food pantry to serve all income eligible residents of Mooresburg. The pantry, located at the Mooresburg Community Center, 318 McNeil Circle. is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 1pm. At the first visit, an application must be filled out and income verified. Each household will receive a good supply of canned goods and other non perishable food items and a voucher redeemable for fresh veggies, fruits, milk etc. at our local grocer.

Families may use the pantry once per month, but we ask that you visit only one pantry in Hawkins County. No appointment is necessary. For any other information, please call 423-923-1488.

The MCA is also starting a year long assessment of the needs of our community. We have added a full time outreach coordinator to our staff, who will visit every Mooresburg household to provide information on the many services that are available our area. There are many programs that aren’t widely known. Programs for seniors, families and children could provide a big difference in household budgets, and make agencies which address food insecurity more accessible.
