Mooresburg Community Association is putting Wal Mart grant funding to use, with 2 new programs
The Mooresburg Community Association has added 2 staff members, thanks to a Wal Mart grant dedicated to increasing services in town that address hunger issues. Ms. LeeAnn Goodson is taking care of our new food pantry. LeeAnn has the pantry open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 1pm. The pantry is open to all income eligible Mooresburg residents. After filling out an application, households will receive a box of canned goods/non perishable foods and a gift certificate for Holt’s IGA which can be redeemed for meats, fruits and veggies etc. If you need further information, please call 423-293-0073
LeeAnn is also providing rides to medical appointments through our medical transport program. If you call and schedule a pick up, LeeAnn will come get you at home, drive you to your doctor’s office, and then return you home. Please call 423-923-1488 or 423-293-0073 to schedule. We only transport one person each trip.
We have also added Mr Dan Deel to our staff, as a full time outreach coordinator. Dan is going to visit all Mooresburg homes to provide information on all of the programs available in our area, and to listen to what the community needs are. We have programs that assist seniors, and families, but there may be something else that you need information about, and Dan will happily provide that link.
USDA commodities will be distributed on Wednesday March 12th from 9am to 3pm while supplies last. If you have signed up to receive your commodities at the community center please plan to pick them up that day or the next. We cannot sign anyone else at this time, you will have to pick up your box at the National Guard Armory Building on highway 11W in Rogersville. Please call the neighborhood service center at 272-2830.
