Currently, volunteers use their own cars, gas, and time to deliver meals. Mooresburg Community Association volunteers are committed to making this non-profit organization succeed in providing hot meals and support to people who need a neighborly helping hand. The organization is its 10th year of operation. No person is denied participation either as a volunteer or as a recipient of services.

Most of our volunteers live right here in Mooresburg, TN and have a deep understanding of the community. Others have enjoyed successful careers in urban surroundings and relocated to this beautiful mountain region of Tennessee to enjoy the scenic beauty, an abundance of outdoor activities, and lower cost of living.

Terry (pictured below)  is a great help to our program. After dealing with cancer a few years back, Terry has vowed to help others and give back, and the Mooresburg Community Association is on the receiving end of that vow. Our dear Terry passed away after a long battle with cancer in August of 2015.

Simply put, here is how our Meals in the Hills program thrives: 5 days per week, the most wonderful volunteers arrive at  Mooresburg Community Association, pick up carry-out boxes of hot food, and deliver the hot meals to people.

boB ( that is how he writes boB pictured below left) – boB delivers all of the meals on Wednesdays, that usually takes 3 people. boB has been a volunteer for many years. A few years ago boB almost died in tractor accident. He spent 9 months recovering in the hospital and VA medical center ( Korean War Veteran). While in the hospital boB’s first question was when he got better, could he go back to delivering meals?  Some volunteer huh? boB befriended a meals recipient, Joe, who accompanied boB on deliveries for a year or so. boB’s cancer took him from us in 2015, we still can’t talk about him without getting emotional, but Joe now delivers the route every Monday. The MCA is so blessed.

Doug and Carol (below left) deliver meals and also help with the Friends and Neighbors Thrift Store. Lonnie (below right) and his wife Deanna (not pictured) started delivering saying they could only do it for a short time. They have a disabled granddaughter who needs to go to the hospital periodically. They have been volunteering for Mooresburg Community Association for over 2 years now.
